DNActions is a Mac OS X Widget that can be used to perform common actions on DNA sequences. It is useful for scientists working in genetics and can be used to obtain the complement reverse of a DNA sequence, the protein translation in all six reading frames (three in the forward strand and three in the reverse), find CpG dinucleotides and calculate the composition and the Tm (melting temperature) of a DNA molecule.
DNActions main advantage is that it can process several sequences at once. DNActions sits always handy on the Dashboard, requiring no internet connection.
In contrast with other bioinformatic suites available DNActios is a lightweight and easy to use widget with a nice graphical interface. It requires no complicated installation and you don't need to use the command line. You don't need an internet connection to connect to a server hosting a program because DNActions widget performs its operation on your Dashboard.
Suited for students, scientists and researchers working in genetics who need to work with DNA sequences.
